In June 2021, we with several fellow teachers, students, and parents
from the village of Damyanitsa, working on the project "Dream
Gardens For A Great Europe", also visited the complex of clay houses
in the village of Ilindentsi. Getting acquainted with it was embedded
in our project to teach students how to be friendly to the environment,
how people in these lands from ancient times have lived in harmony
with nature without destroying and damaging it.
The complex of
clay houses "Under The Rocks" in the village of Ilindentsi
situated in our region, has six houses, each with its own unique
shape and interior architecture, from which derive their names -
Snail, Lake, Clover, Winery, Panorama, and Winter Garden. All
houses are built using forgotten authentic technology of the old
masters, using only environmentally friendly local materials -
stone, wood, and clay with straw. The walls are made of
compacted clay - excellent insulation that helps maintain
constant humidity (about 50%). Therefore, in summer it is cool,
and in winter - warm. The roofs are with stone ticks. There is
also a covered barbecue area with a clay oven for baking, a
charcoal grill, and a brick stove. The unique combination of the
climatic conditions of the region with the ecological factor of the
village made our stay for the day complete and unforgettable.

We would like to especially thank the parents of the students who, as
our partners took an active part in the implementation of the activities
set out in the project plan for 2021 under the international project
"Dream Gardens For A Great Europe". They were our best helpers
and with their ideas, they contributed a lot to the wonderful
performance of all the project activities.
